What to Expect at Your First Appointment

We understand that visiting a new medical practice can feel a little overwhelming. To help put your mind at ease, we’ve answered some common questions below so you can feel relaxed and confident ahead of your appointment.

1. How do I know if my booking is confirmed?

Once you’ve made a booking via email, WhatsApp, or phone, you’ll receive an appointment confirmation. We’ll also send you a reminder via email and SMS 24 hours before your scheduled time, and a second reminder 1 hour prior to your appointment.

2. What if I can’t make my appointment?

Life happens — we understand! If possible, please let us know at least 2 hours in advance if you need to cancel or reschedule. You can do this via WhatsApp or a phone call. Missed appointments without prior notice may incur a fee.

3. Will I need to complete any forms?

Yes. We kindly ask all new patients to complete a short form with your contact details, along with a consent form. To allow time for this, we recommend arriving 5 minutes early for your appointment.

4. What should I wear?

Please wear loose, comfortable clothing.

  • Shorts are ideal for lower limb injuries.
  • If you’re being treated for your back, hips, or pelvis, we suggest avoiding dresses or skirts.
  • strappy top is perfect for shoulder or neck assessments.

Your physiotherapist will always ensure your privacy and comfort, using towels and covering as needed.

5. What can I expect during my session?

Your first session will include:

  • A detailed discussion to understand your condition and health history
  • A physical assessment involving movement tests and palpation (if necessary)
  • A collaborative treatment plan, which may include hands-on therapy, rehabilitation exercises, and practical home advice

If needed, a follow-up appointment will be scheduled.

6. Will I need a scan or X-ray?

If further investigation is necessary, your physiotherapist will discuss this with you. A referral letter can be provided or sent directly to the appropriate healthcare provider.

7. Can I get a sick note for work or school?

Absolutely. Please ask your physio if you need a medical certificate. Your note will confirm your attendance and include the date and time of your session.

8. What payment options are available? Can I claim from my medical aid?

We accept both cash and credit card payments.
You’ll receive a receipt via email, complete with the necessary codes to submit to your medical aid. Your medical aid will reimburse you directly.

Important note: We charge below medical aid tariffs, which often means you’ll receive a full refund if you have cover.
